E-Safety / Online

Being online is an integral part of children and young people’s lives. Social media, online games, websites and apps can be accessed through mobile phones, computers, laptops and tablets – all of which form a part of children and young people’s online world.

The internet and online technology provide new opportunities for children’s learning and growth, but it can also expose them to new types of risks.

At Perry Hall, E-Safety is a fundamental part of safeguarding.  We teach E-Safety through dedicated curriculum time through Project Evolve, whilst continually referring to it through the wider the curriculum.  We foster an open environment at Perry Hall in which children are encouraged to ask any questions and participate in an ongoing conversation about the benefits and dangers of the online world.

Many apps that children use outside school are dependent on user-generated content which can encourage freedom of expression, imagination and creativity. However, due to the sheer volume uploaded every day, it can be difficult for platforms to regulate and moderate everything, which means that disturbing or distressing images, videos or audio clips can slip through the net. Please take a look at the useful tips on this page that offer helpful advice and resources on how to keep your child safe whilst online:
